The National Lottery Community Fund

In January 2024 we were awarded £14,775

Alton Towers waterpark takeover October 2024

Funded by the National Lottery Commumity Grant

Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community grant, we were able to hire the waterpark exclusively for adoptive families.

We all had lots of fun going down the slides, floating around the lazy river and catching up with friends.

Over 75 families joined us and for many, it was their first time at the waterpark.  It was wonderful to watch their faces as they entered the waterpark. We turned the music down, numbers were much lower than a typical day to enable it to be as inclusive as possible. Many families commented how safe and relaxing it felt knowing it was adoptive families attending.

Camp 2025

July saw 29 adoptive families come together in the glorious sunshine for 5 days.

We had 83 campers who camped to build a strong community.

The children played, had a tractor ride, fished for the 1st time, did rock painting, bingo, a quiz, crafts, sports, water fun, cake decorating, dog show, Lego, water bottle designing, bush crafts to name just a few of the fun activities.

The parents were able to spend time with others who really do get it whilst enjoying the freedom and play their children were having.

100% of those that attended the camp and gave feed back said definitely to the question - the aim of Creating Adoption Networks Community Interest Company is to connect adoptive families together in a safe manner and enable everyone to have fun. Did this event achieve this?

“Our children's happiest time of the Camp is the most relaxed we are during the year & feels essential to recharge our batteries: the children really accept each other & form vital friendships; parents can relax knowing their family won’t be judged. Any other summer holiday activity is only booked if it does not clash with  camp.”

“A much needed opportunity for adoptive families to spend time together in a safe and welcoming place where the children can relax and be themselves.”

“This event is wonderful. To see your child feel totally confident around others making friends having fun learning from others sharing with others & most importantly not feeling like an ‘outsider’ or the only person who’s ‘different’ is the best thing for a parent to observe. And as a parent making friendships & connections with like minded parents is wonderful & so important to realise you are not alone in our adoption journeys. We all share support & understand, that in itself is priceless. Thank you so much to Clare & Lydia. We LOVE coming to camp & wouldn’t miss coming for anything !!”

“Thank you so much for an amazing week. Both boys have said they didn't want to come home. It is so fantastic to be part of a community that so values our children, accepting and celebrating who they are and allowing them to be themselves with no judgements. They are making friendships that are so important to them and we have done so as adults too. Thank you everyone for your support and kindness and especially to Clare and Lydia for making it all happen and James for the funding to allow our children to have a week they'll remember forever.”

“The camp brings adoptive families together”

“Our children were not just accepted for who they are but positively welcomed and encouraged. We have have all made friendships that make our lives better.”

“Gracie says she thinks it’s amazing and fun.”

“The camp is brilliant, it bring nearly a hundred adoptive families together for a fantastic weeks camping and activity sessions which helps the kids bond, the parents meet friendly understanding faces new and old and it a great tension releaser for both the kids and parents alike, what a wonderful event organised by a fantastic team of Clare and Lydia x”

“My son was so happy to be at camp this year... He described the week as 'living my dream'”

“We had the most amazing time and we met lovely, kind people. We have hopefully made some forever friends and look forward to being able to help others in the future the way we have been supported by everyone at camp”

“ Its the best week of our holidays ever”

“This week camping with other adoptive families is so precious. A chance for parents to relax - without being on guard of judgement or exclusion by school parents and the general public - and to share info - and have FUN!!”

“Our family thoroughly enjoyed camping with other adoptive families. The camp provides a caring and safe environment for children and adults to relax, chat, make friends, be creative and be free.”

“One size does not fit all with adoption families, and Creating Adoption Networks appreciates this and in a child centred way caters for the varying needs of the families at their camps. We have attended many times and intend to continue for as long as they will have us. Until you have the lived experience it's almost impossible to appreciate how isolating being a home educating single parent to both birth and adoptive children is, but this isolation is something families at camp appreciate and thus community space in invaluable for us.”

“Camping with other adopters helps me be a better, more understanding parent to my daughter. We have had a tough year this year, but I can see other parents going through the same issues as me, and camping together just gives my family time and space to breathe and reconnect.”

“This holiday provides a safe space for our daughter to just be. She can have fun all day in a safe space and parents can chat and share and relax. We love this week”

“The week was as relaxing as it was joyous. It was so safe and inclusive - watching the children and young people connect with others who understand their life stories and backgrounds was lovely and will be so important for their sense of self and self-esteem as they navigate the world and having the opportunity to connect with other parents was similarly priceless. We loved every moment of it.”

“It was an excellent 5 days, brilliantly organised and compassionately executed. We felt very included.”

“A lifeline for adoptive families! An incredible organisation that helps connect families of adoption with each other and to create an environment where the children can thrive together.”

“From the outside looking in, it’s hard to understand. From the inside looking out, it’s hard to explain.” Camp is expertly led by Clare and Lydia. Families whom are rarely welcomed anywhere are received with open arms. To be amongst those who are able to manage how our children present is both a joy and a relief. Big thanks.”

“Henlow camp is the highlight of our year. Our 5 year old daughter loves it. It’s her 3rd time this year and each year she has become more comfortable and confident at camp. It’s so great for her to see and mix with other families just like ours and as a parent knowing other parents who understand us and our situation is invaluable.”

“The kids love the freedom to play and craft in a safe environment with other children who are also adopted.”

Just a few photos of the fun that was had.

Not just the children that had fun

White Post Farm

We had a very windy day in August at White Post Farm!

8 families joined a fun filled day out and we mostly managed to dodge the rain and make the most of the sunny day, just had to try not to be blown away! Lots of smiles as we saw people during the day, making the most of the outdoor play areas and feeding the animals around the farm.

Feedback

It was lovely to meet you earlier and I just wanted to say thank you again for organising and paying for the day.

So nice to meet with other adoptive families in an informal way.

We had a lovely time.

Thank you again and I look forward to seeing you again at other events.

Willows Farm

We had 55 attend the trip to Willows farm in June. It was a beautiful sunny day.
Lots of fun and laughter was had as well as net friendships and connections made,
A huge thank you to Pendragon Ford for the funding of this trip.

“Great to have the opportunity to be with other adopters in a relaxed atmosphere, really nice to have the discreet stickers to identify others there for same reason without highlighting purpose behind the group to the general public. Meet and greet meant that if we had not already known others we could be introduced and nicely thought out touches such as quiet room space if needed and flexibility to make the day successful for individuals eg arriving after the main group/crowd to avoid overwhelm. Thank you”

"It was a wonderful opportunity for adopted children and families to get together to do enriching activities which many of us could not normally afford"

“Events like these are lifelines so adoptive families can be with others who just get it. Relaxing, warm, welcoming, non-judgemental and really important opportunities for our children to also meet others who share a similar life story which is vital for their self esteem and wellbeing.”

“We had a fantastic day and it was so lovely to make new connections and friends.”

Corby Town Council

In November 2024 we were awarded £700 to part fund 2 events

Thanks to funding from Corby Town Council, we were able to run an exclusive cooking event at Kingswood Catering in Coby. 16 families made apple pies. They looked and smelt delicious!

Feedback and photos

Honestly this event was brilliant. So well put together and the venue is incredible. L had a great time, she absolutely loved it. She was smiling the whole time and felt confident to get on by herself with the clear guidance of the teacher. She would normally be anxious to attend something like this but it was so accessible and so good to know that everyone there understands. We will definitely be looking out for more events. Thank you

An excellent event! We all enjoyed it, the children have chatted about it whilst driving home. The way in which the person led the group was really good so everyone could keep up, definitely would recommend.

I loved watching my daughter really engaged during each stage of making her apple pie. And how proud she was at the end. Thank you very much

So empowering, having been to other cooking events the confidence this has given my daughter is immense

Adrenaline Alley - private hire event part funded by Corby Town Council

On a cold, foggy Sunday morning between Christmas and New Year, we took over Adrenaline Alley

We had lots of fun at Adrenaline Alley riding the ramps, learning new tricks and being able to meet other adoptive families. The event was part funded by Corby Town Council.

Feedback

Events like these where the children and their adults are able to be themselves, free from judgement and in a safe environment are great! Children can connect with each other and the adults are free to chat in a safe and comfortable zone!

Today at adrenaline alley was really fun and I want to do it again!

These events are a great opportunity for our children to mix with others in the same situation and for us as parents to share experiences in a safe environment. Good to know that the events are open across the country as we have strong local networks and this is helping to grow wider links and for my child to see there are many like her.

Enriching children's and families lives

Always family focussed and organised by great people who know adoptive families and their needs!

Bringing family’s together

As a solo adopter I had no one to talk to that understands adoption. I now feel like that is  going to change and it makes me less anxious.

The event allowed our girls to experience something they had never done before. It was a safe and small group setting which meant they were happy to explore, have fun and just be themselves. They loved every minute and are already asking if it will be on again next Christmas!

Great chance to give our children a safe and more relaxed environment to enjoy themselves and meet others

An amazing opportunity for our children to use this venue in a safe and calm way
