Our health and safety policy is to: 

Prevent accidents and ill health

Manage health and safety risks whilst at events

Ensure all volunteers and directors are aware of the Health and Safety policy

To ensure health and safety standards are maintained/improved, the following people have responsibility in the following areas:

All volunteers and directors should: 

  • co-operate with health and safety matters.
  • take reasonable care of their own health and safety; and 
  • report all health and safety concerns to an appropriate person (as detailed above).

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy 
 

Creating Adoption Networks Community Interest Company is committed to encouraging equality, diversity and inclusion among our workforce, volunteers and eliminating unlawful discrimination. 

The aim is for our workforce  to be truly representative of all sections of society and our customers, and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best.  

The organisation - in services is also committed against unlawful discrimination of customers or the public. 

Our policy’s purpose 
 

This policy’s purpose is to: 

1. Provide equality, fairness and respect for all in our employment and volunteering whether temporary, part-time or full-time 

2. Not unlawfully discriminate because of the Equality Act 2010 protected characteristics of:

marriage and civil partnership 

pregnancy and maternity 

race (including colour, nationality, and ethnic or national origin)

3. Oppose and avoid all forms of unlawful discrimination. This includes in:

dealing with grievances and discipline

Our commitments 
 
The organisation commits to: 
 

1. Encourage equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace as they are good practice and make business sense 
 

2. Create a working environment free of bullying, harassment, victimisation and unlawful discrimination, promoting dignity and respect for all, and where individual differences and the contributions of all staff are recognised and valued.  
 
This commitment includes informing all volunteers about their rights and responsibilities under the equality, diversity and inclusion policy. Responsibilities include the workforce conducting themselves to help the organisation provide equal opportunities in employment and volunteering and prevent bullying, harassment, victimisation and unlawful discrimination. 
 

3. Take seriously complaints of bullying, harassment, victimisation and unlawful discrimination by fellow volunteers, customers, suppliers, visitors, the public and any others in the course of the organisation’s work activities. 
 
Such acts will be dealt with as misconduct under the organisation’s grievance and/or disciplinary procedures, and appropriate action will be taken. Particularly serious complaints could amount to gross misconduct and lead to dismissal without notice. 
 
Further, sexual harassment may amount to both an employment rights matter and a criminal matter, such as in sexual assault allegations. In addition, harassment under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 – which is not limited to circumstances where harassment relates to a protected characteristic – is a criminal offence. 
 

4. Make opportunities for training, development and progress available to all volunteers, who will be helped and encouraged to develop their full potential, so their talents and resources can be fully utilised to maximise the efficiency of the organisation. 
 

5. Make decisions concerning volunteers being based on merit (apart from in any necessary and limited exemptions and exceptions allowed under the Equality Act). 
 

6. Review practices and procedures when necessary to ensure fairness, and also update them and the policy to take account of changes in the law. 
 

7. Monitor the make-up of the workforce regarding information such as age, sex, ethnic background, sexual orientation, religion or belief, and disability in encouraging equality, diversity and inclusion, and in meeting the aims and commitments set out in the equality, diversity and inclusion policy. 
 
Monitoring will also include assessing how the equality, diversity and inclusion policy, and any supporting action plan, are working in practice, reviewing them annually, and considering and taking action to address any issues.

Safeguarding policy

The primary aim of Creating Adoption Networks is to bring together adoptive families.

The purpose of this policy statement is:

To protect children and young people who take part in Creative Adoption Networks events from harm. This includes the children and adults who attend events.

To provide staff and volunteers, as well as children and young people and their

families, with the overarching principles that guide our approach to child

protection.

This policy applies to anyone working on behalf of Creating Adoption Networks

including the directors and volunteers.

We recognise that:

The welfare of children is paramount in all the work we do and in all the

decisions we take.

Working in partnership with children, young people, their parents, carers and

other agencies is essential in promoting young people’s welfare

All children, regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or

belief, sex, or sexual orientation have an equal right to protection from all types

of harm or abuse

Some children are additionally vulnerable because of the impact of previous

experiences, their level of dependency, communication needs or other issues

extra safeguards may be needed to keep children who are additionally

vulnerable safe from abuse.

 

We will seek to keep children and young people

safe by:

Valuing, listening to and respecting them

Appointing a nominated child protection lead for children and young people.

Adopting child protection and safeguarding best practice through our policies,

procedures and code of conduct for directors and volunteers.

Ensure all directors and volunteers know about and follow our policies and procedures.

Recording and storing and using information professionally and securely, in line

with data protection legislation and guidance [more information about this is

available from the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk/for-organisations

Making sure that children, young people and their families know where to go

for help if they have a concern.

Using our safeguarding and child protection procedures to share concerns and

relevant information with agencies who need to know, and involving children,

young people, parents, families and carers appropriately.

Using our procedures to manage any allegations against directors and volunteers

appropriately.

Ensuring that we provide a safe physical environment for our children, young

people, directors and volunteers, by applying health and safety measures in

accordance with the law and regulatory guidance.

Photo policy

Creating Adoption Networks has a responsibility to promote the welfare of all children and young people.

To ensure the safety of everyone at the our events and activities, we ask that any photos that are taken are only of your child/ren. Please be aware of any children that maybe visible in the background.

Creating Adoption Networks volunteers may take photos during the activity but will only take photos that do not have the faces of any of the children. The photos may be uploaded on to social media but no names will be used. Where there are photos of children's faces on our social media/website, permission has been given by the child and parent.
